Cervical Cancer Screenings

Tanzania has the 5th highest rate of cervical cancer in the world and a mortality rate of nearly 70%. Cervical cancer is the most common form of cancer in Tanzania, accounting for roughly 22% of all cancer diagnoses. Ignoring signs of cervical cancer can lead to sickness and fatality.

Cervical Cancer is Treatable!

Women between the ages of 30 - 49 are the most susceptible and should be screened at least once. Cervical cancer can be treated several ways. At FAME the most common methods of treatment include: Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA), Thermocoagulation, and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP).

How can I get Screened?

Screenings at FAME will take place from November 4th - 15th, 2019. Screenings generally take 5 to 10 minutes and free of charge. If any lesions are detected they are removed on the spot, and our doctors will request your return in 2 weeks to check for any signs of remaining cancer.
